Parent Support Advocate

Navigating the special education process can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. At Learning Linx, we provide compassionate and knowledgeable support to ensure your child’s unique needs are recognized and met.

Whether you’re preparing for your first IEP meeting or need ongoing advocacy, we're here to help every step of the way.

Pre-IEP Meeting Support:

• Explain the IEP process and parents’ rights under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
• Review previous IEPs, evaluations, and progress reports to assess the child’s current status.
• Help parents understand assessments, diagnosis reports, and other educational documents.
• Identify and prioritize the child’s needs to ensure appropriate goals and services are included.
• Assist parents in preparing questions and concerns to bring to the meeting.
• Provide emotional support and encouragement.

During the IEP Meeting:

• Attend IEP meetings alongside parents to provide support and advocacy.
• Ensure parents’ voices are heard and their concerns are addressed.
• Clarify educational jargon and explain discussions in simpler terms.
• Take detailed notes to document conversations and decisions.
• Collaborate with the school team to ensure appropriate goals, accommodations, and services are considered.
• Advocate for evaluations, additional services, or supports when necessary.

Post-IEP Meeting Support:

• Review the finalized IEP document to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Explain any sections of the IEP that parents may not understand.
• Develop an action plan for tracking progress on IEP goals.
• Provide resources and referrals to specialists, therapists, or additional educational support.
• Support parents in resolving disputes or requesting mediation if disagreements arise.

Ongoing Support and Advocacy:
